Allan H. Treman State Marine Park
Allan h. treman is one of the largest inland marinas in new york state. it boasts 370 seasonal, 30 transient and 30 dry boat slips. for folks trailering boats, the park has an 8-lane boat launch ramp. the marina is an excellent port-of-call off the barge canal system at the south end of cayuga lake and within easy walking distance to the city of ithaca along the cayuga waterfront trail. for bird watching fans, the hog hole wetland and the cayuga lake shoreline make for great opportunities to view waterfowl and wetland species. -
Allegany State Park - Quaker Area
The quaker area is known for its two lakes and wonderful camping experiences. it offers a sandy beach for swimming, two fishing piers and a canoeing or kayaking access point. friend's boat launch makes the allegany reservoir available to the boating enthusiasts. the many hiking trails give opportunities to explore the naturally formed caves, plus the diversity of plants and wildlife. many come to relax with the programs offered at the quaker amphitheater, by picnicking, or just letting the children spend time on the playground. if you enjoy sports, you can use our horse shoe pits, baseball fields, basketball, volley ball or tennis courts. the old quaker store has been completely restored and now houses a park museum. interesting exhibits document the history of allegany state park as "the wilderness playground of western new york", and orient visitors to the parks unique features and attractions, both past and present. allegany's mixed hemlock /hardwood forest, mountains, rolling hills and meadows, streams, ponds and lakes attract devoted outdoors enthusiasts year-round. -
Allegany State Park - Red House Area
The red house area is known for the historic tudor-style administration building and everything centrally located around the red house lake. it offers 5 miles of paved bike paths, boat and bike rentals, a sandy beach for swimming, fishing and snowmobiling. feel free to exercise by walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, playing softball tennis, horse shoes or even a game of volleyball. the administration building features a natural history museum, regional headquarters and a gift shop. thunder rocks is an impressive bedrock city that allows for the nature lover to see the hidden beauty that this park is known for. the stone tower structure shows vistas of the rolling hills of mature forests. the many beaver ponds are a good place to observe the diversity of wildlife located in the park. -
Anthony Wayne Recreation Area - Harriman State Park
The anthony wayne recreation area of harriman state park lies in a wooded valley. facilities include picnic areas with fireplaces, playing fields and cross-country ski and hiking trails. -
Artpark State Park (Earl W. Brydges)
Earl w. brydges artpark is dedicated to presenting the finest in performing and visual arts programs, including broadway musicals and classical, jazz and pop music concerts; art exhibits; classes, workshops and demonstrations, and tours of the park's geological and historic sites and nature trails. lower landing archeological district is a key point in the colonial niagara historic district. take the virtual tour! -
Battle Island State Park
This park derived its name from a battle which took place on a nearby island on the oswego river in the mid-1700s. in 1916 most of the land owned by f. a. emerick was deeded to the state. battle island officially became a state park in 1938 when the remaining land was turned over.the popular course near fulton lies adjacent to the oswego river and offers golfers magnificent views from a number of its fairways and greens. the 18-hole battle island state park golf course is a challenging one for the "budding professional" and amateur player. the park also is used in winter for cross-country skiing. -
Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park
Bayard cutting arboretum's purpose is "to provide an oasis of beauty and quiet for the pleasure, rest and refreshment of those who delight in outdoor beauty, and to bring about a greater appreciation and understanding of the value and importance of informal planting." the current collection of fir, spruce, pine, cypress, hemlock and other conifers is probably the most extensive to be found on long island. also found are extensive plantings of dwarf evergreens, rhododendron, azaleas, hollies and oaks, wildflowers and daffodils. with the park's ponds and streamlets, these plantings provide food and homes for land and aquatic birds, fox, raccoon and other wildlife.a permit is required to take wedding photos at bayard cutting arboretum state park. it must be obtained prior to the event and a fee may be required. please contact the park for further information. -
Bayswater Point State Park
Bayswater point state park comprises 12 acres at the tip of a peninsula in the rockaways that juts out into the mott basin on the eastern shore of jamaica bay. the terrain is varied and includes beachfront, wetlands and woodlands. this diversity helps make it an ideal habitat for migrating and nesting birds. the goal of this park is to preserve the existing natural systems, and if feasible, restore what has been lost. passive recreation, such as hiking and nature study, are encouraged. -
Bear Mountain State Park
Bear mountain state park is situated in rugged mountains rising from the west bank of the hudson river. the park features a large play field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, a swimming pool, trailside musueums and zoo, hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails. an outdoor rink is open to ice skaters from late october through mid-march. the perkins memorial tower atop bear mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the hudson highlands and harriman state park. perkins memorial drive and tower are open from april through late november, weather permitting. -
Beaver Island State Park
Beaver island state park is located at the south end of grand island in the upper niagara river. the 950 acre park has a half-mile sandy beach for swimming, adjacent 80 slip marina with both seasonal and transient boat slips, fishing access, car-top boat launch, multiple canoe/kayak launches, bike and nature trails, nature center, playgrounds, picnic areas, athletic fields, horseshoe pits, an 18 hole championship disc golf course, an 18-hole championship golf course. also located in the park is the river lea house and musuem, home to the grand island historical society and built by william cleveland allen, cousin to grover cleveland who visited the family farm on several occasions. in winter, visitors can snowmobile by permit, cross-country ski, snowshoe, sled or ice fish. water fowl hunting is allowed in season by permit. beaver island clubhouse has banquet and catering facilities. for more information please call the park office. -
Beaver Pond Campgrounds - Harriman State Park
Beaver pond campgrounds adjoin the lake welch recreation area within harriman state park. the campgrounds include tent and trailer sites, as well as accommodations for larger vehicles. comfort stations, showers, laundry facilities and a dumping station are part of the campgrounds. -
Belmont Lake State Park
Belmont lake state park is a full service park and the headquarters of the long island state park region. activities include boating, fishing, picnicking, biking, horseback riding, hiking and cross-country skiing. the park also has playing fields, horseshoe and basketball courts and playgrounds. -
Bethpage State Park
Bethpage state park is best known for its five world-class golf courses, including the world-renowned black course which was the site of the u.s. open championship in 2002 and 2009. visitors also flock to the park to use the park's picnic facilities, playing fields, tennis courts, bridle paths, hiking and biking trails and cross-county skiing trails. -
Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park
Perched atop a hill in southern otsego county, betty and wilbur davis state park provides spectacular views to the south and west. nearly two thirds of the park is blanketed by a forest of hardwoods intermixed with smaller areas of conifer plantation. the remainder of this 200-acre property is occupied by gently rolling meadowlands and two ponds.the park, which is named for the generous new york couple who donated the land to the state, offers a variety of recreational opportunities. with expansive views and tranquil surroundings, betty and wilbur davis state park is a favorite among birdwatchers and other nature lovers. -
Big Six Mile Creek Marina
Big six mile creek state park marina is located in a protected inlet off of the upper niagara river. this marina provides a boat launch for boating and world class fishing access, 134 seasonal boat slips, gasoline and oil sales, ice and pump out service. seasonal slip vacancies are filled by a lottery every year. -
Blauvelt State Park
Blauvelt state park is 590 acres of forested green space in rockland county. hiking trails provide the only access and afford spectacular views of the hudson valley. -
Bonavista State Park Golf Course
Nestled above the shore overlooking seneca lake, this park derived its name from the amazing lake view visible from the golf course. the 9-hole course can be played twice from different tees for an 18-hole round. there is also an attractive clubhouse/ restaurant. the park has shaded picnic areas and food is available at the snack bar. bow hunting is allowed in season, call for details. -
Bowman Lake State Park
Bowman lake state park is a remote sylvan retreat known as "a camper's paradise." scenic park roads wind through evergreen and hardwood forests to shady campsites. there is a sandy lakefront for swimmers and sunbathers with several picnic areas nearby. the lake is regularly stocked with trout, and birdwatchers can spot as many as 103 species of birds. the park also has a nature center. -
Brookhaven State Park
Once property of brookhaven national laboratory and former military installation called camp upton, brookhaven state park is 1,638-acres and is part of the central core of the long island pine barrens. the park runs along the east side william floyd parkway north of whiskey road, and between ny 25 and ny 25a. for the avid hiker, the park features the brookhaven trail, which heads south through the park and hooks up with the white-blazed paumanok path. -
Buckhorn Island State Park
Buckhorn island state park nature preserve, 895 acres of marsh, meadows and woods and the last vestige of once vast marshlands and meadows that bordered the niagara river, is classified as a park preserve. the public is welcome to walk the nature trails, hike, bike, kayak, canoe, fish and cross-country ski in the park. ongoing restoration continues to re-establish wetland cover and water levels and increase the diversity of native flora and fauna. the ongoing restoration plan includes increasing public access with more non-intrusive trails, overlooks and bird watching blinds. -
Burnham Point State Park
Burnham point state park is small and quiet with lightly-wooded campsites, ideal for boating, fishing and relaxing. boaters can explore local towns, islands and historic sites for miles up and down the scenic river. popular game fish include bass, pike, muskellunge and walleye. -
Buttermilk Falls State Park
Buttermilk falls state park takes its name from the foaming cascade formed by buttermilk creek as it flows down the steep valley side toward cayuga lake. the upper park has a small lake, hiking trails through woodlands and along the gorge and rim, picnic areas and playing fields. the lower park has a campground, pool and playing fields, beyond which is larch meadows. larch meadows is a moist, shady glen and wetland area through which a nature trail winds. park activities, including tours through buttermilk gorge, which are offered weekly from july 4th through labor day. -
Caleb Smith State Park Preserve
Nestled in the heart of smithtown, caleb smith state park preserve is one of only two state nature preserves on long island. within its 543 acres are a variety of habitats offering guests picturesque views that change with the seasons. caleb smith is a passive use park. this not only helps protect the local plant and wildlife populations but also allows visitors to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the quiet serenity that can only be found in nature. -
Camp Hero State Park
Camp hero state park encompasses 415 acres of diverse landscape including heavily wooded areas, a long expanse of beachfront along the atlantic ocean, and an historic military installation. specific features of camp hero are magnificent pristine maritime forests, freshwater wetlands, spectacular ocean vistas and dramatic bluffs rising from the beach. an extensive system of trails is available for hiking, biking and horseback riding. the park boasts some of the best surf fishing locations in the world, open 24 hours a day to fishermen with permits, and areas for picnicking. an undisturbed environment shelters bountiful wildlife and an abundance of birds. the former military base that is in the park is registered as a national historic site. -
Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park
Notice: canandaigua lake state marine park will close on september 6, 2011 for construction. access to the park will begin to be limited on august 8, when 2 of the 6 ramps will close. after labor day, the launch ramps will be completely reconstructed and to ensure the public's safety, access will not be permitted. anyone who is planning to use the state boat launch to remove their boat from canandaigua lake this year is encouraged to do this as early as possible. the last day the boat launch will be available for public use is monday, september 5. the park is expected to reopen before january 1, 2012. -
Canoe-Picnic Point State Park
Canoe-picnic point state park is only reachable by boat, offering a quiet camping experience in a wooded area with plenty of dock space available. just south of the camping area is picnic point, a picnic ground with a beautiful picnic gazebo, shore dinner cooking facility and dockage. the fishing is excellent. -
Captree State Park
Captree state park lies at the eastern tip of jones beach island in the heart of the fishing grounds. captree is a fisherman's haven and a picnicker's delight. the park features a boat basin with open and charter boats available for fishing, as well as scuba diving, sightseeing and excursion boats. -
Catharine Valley Trail
This year round recreation trail provides visitors the opportunity to experience the scenic beauty and historic charm of the glacially-carved valley south of seneca lake. following abandoned railroad and canal towpath corridors, the trail passes through a variety of wildlife habitats. the compact stone-dust trail surface accommodates walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. currently six miles of the trail is available for use. when construction is complete the trail will be twelve miles long and extending from the village of watkins glen to horseheads. -
Caumsett State Historic Park
Caumsett state historic park, situated on a scenic peninsula extending into long island sound, offers miles of bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh. the park has beautiful gardens, excellent fishing and scuba diving by permit. in 1921 marshall field iii purchased 1750 acres of lloyd neck to create one large estate. he named the land after its matinecock indian name, caumsett, which means "place by a sharp rock." -
Cayuga Lake State Park
Cayuga lake state park's terrain is flat at lakeshore, where the beach and sun lawns are, then slopes gently uphill to campsites and cabins. the scenic highlight of the park is its expansive view of cayuga lake. in the shallow water near the park, largemouth bass, bullheads and carp thrive. in deeper water, anglers can catch northern pike, small mouth bass, lake trout, landlocked salmon and many other varieties of fish. the park has a boat launch, playground, playing field. -
Cedar Island State Park
Cedar island state park takes up half of the island. the park is favored by people who appreciate quiet boating, fishing and beautiful scenery. the park's campsites are lightly-wooded, with a day-use area and picnic pavilion nearby. -
Cedar Point State Park
Cedar point state park, one of the oldest state parks in new york, is a popular spot, offering excellent camping, fishing, boating and swimming. the beach is sheltered and sandy, there are docks for boats, a fishing pier and picnic grounds. from the overlook area, visitors can watch ocean-going freighters pass by. -
Chenango Valley State Park
Chenango valley state park is an ice age wonder. its two kettle lakes, lily and chenango, were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes, and bog. birdwatchers may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails and herons, ducks and kingfishers lakeside. fishermen will find trout, bass, perch and bullhead in chenango lake. campers can choose from among 185 campsites and 24 cabins and golfers will appreciate the 18-hole chenango valley state park golf course. sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter. the edge trail is accessible. -
Cherry Plain State Park
Cherry plain state park has 175 acres and features a sandy beach on black river pond, with bathhouse and comfort station nearby. picnic grounds and a boat launch are adjacent to the beach. the park also has bridle paths and hiking, biking and nature trails that serve for cross-country skiing in winter. anglers fish for bass, bullheads and pickerel and may also ice fish in winter. -
Chimney Bluffs State Park
Land and water clash at chimney bluffs, sculpting the most dramatic landscape on the lake ontario shore. you can experience massive earthen spires from above or along the lakeshore on nature trails. day-use services include picnic areas, nature trails and restrooms. -
Chittenango Falls State Park
A picturesque 167 foot waterfall is the main attraction of chittenango falls state park! glacial sculpting over 400 million year-old bedrock is responsible for this scenic feature. an interesting variety of both plants and wildlife may be found along the trails. visitors can view the falls from the top, walk the winding trail into the gorge view the falls from the footbridge and return to the top along the small trail on the opposite side of the gorge. activities include fishing, hiking and picnicking. -
Clark Reservation State Park
Clark reservation state park is a geologic wonder of the last ice age and a botanist's paradise. the park's natural features include rugged cliffs and rocky outcrops, woodland and meadow, a wetland and a glacial plunge basin lake in which the surface waters and bottom waters do not mix. fishermen can catch pickerel, bullheads and sunfish; while birdwatchers may observe cedar waxwings, kingfishers and woodpeckers. guided nature walks leave from the nature center building, which also offers numerous exibits. hikers may choose from five trails, including the cliff trail, which has a ledge overlook 175 feet above the water. -
Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve
Clay pit ponds state park preserve is a 260-acre nature preserve near the southwest shore of staten island. it contains a variety of unique habitats, such as wetlands, ponds, sand barrens, spring-fed streams and woodlands. the preserve is managed to retain its unique ecology and to provide educational and recreational opportunities for people of all ages. evidences of the leni lenape indians, european settlers and the free blacks of sandy ground provide a rich cultural history. educational programs, such as nature walks, pond ecology, birdwatching and tree and flower identification, are offered, as are many activities geared to school children. school and group programs are also welcome by advance registration. in addition, visitors may picnic or hike on designated trails. horseback riding is also permitted on over 5 miles of bridal paths. please note that horses are not available to rent. -
Cold Spring Harbor State Park
The park is comprised of 40 acres of hilly terrain that offer scenic vistas of the cold spring harbor. it features a mixed hardwood forest with notable large oak specimens that measure three feet in diameter, as well as thickets of wild mountain laurel. -
Coles Creek State Park
Coles creek state park has wooded and open campsites near a swimming beach on lake st. lawrence. the lake is ideal for boating and fishing as well. a marina on the mouth of coles creek lies just north of the park entrance. the park also has a playground, playing fields and a large pavilion. -
Conesus Lake Boat Launch
Conesus lake boat launch provides boaters with access to a day on the water and excellent fishing. the area also has picnic facilities and a comfort station. -
Connetquot River State Park Preserve
Connetquot river state park preserve maintains 3,473 acres of land and water for the protection and propagation of game birds, fish and animals. deer and waterfowl are numerous, rare nesting birds, including the osprey, are present and there are numerous rare plants, such as trailing arbutus and pyxie moss in their natural habitats. the preserve also has 50 miles of hiking, horseback riding, cross-country ski and nature trails, as well as fishing (by permit only) on the connetquot river. -
Cumberland Bay State Park
Cumberland bay state park, on the west shore of lake champlain, is a very popular day-use area because of its large natural sand beach and picnic grounds with tables and grills. the park has a playground and playing fields. cross-country runners frequent the park in the fall. -
Darien Lakes State Park
Darien lakes state park's terrain is hilly with woodlands, ravines, streams and 12-acre harlow lake. the park has a total of 158 campsites (equipped with electricity) with heated comfort stations and showers, a sandy beach, playgrounds, fishing for largemouth black bass, hiking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas and a rustic bridge over the lake channel to picnic island. in winter, multiple-use trails are open for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling and a maintained and heated building for an outdoor skating rink. darien also has two picnic shelters available for a fee by reservation only. -
De Veaux Woods State Park
De veaux woods state park has two ball diamonds, a playground, a nature trail, a large meadow area for picnicking and a trail that crosses the robert moses parkway and leads you to whirlpool state park to the robert moses recreational trail. -
Deans Cove Boat Launch
Dean's cove boat launch is a boat launch site, including power boats, with fishing access. no other facilities. -
Delta Lake State Park
Delta lake state park is located on a peninsula extending into delta reservoir. you'll find the terrain is wooded and generally flat. year-round visitors can enjoy the day in one of many picnic areas, or on one of the many hiking and nature trails. there is also a boat launch and shoreline fishing for trout, pike, bass, bullhead and perch. campers can enjoy 101 tent, trailer or rv camping sites and there is a sandy beach with swimming in the summer. for winter visitors there are cross-country ski trails. -
Devil's Hole State Park
Devil's hole state park overlooks the lower whirlpool rapids. a wildly beautiful walkway leads down from the park along the turbulent niagara river 300 feet into the wooded gorge and offers an up-close, spectacular view of the gorge's rapids. devil's hole has picnic areas, hiking, and nature trails. it is one of the most popular spots for fishermen. -
Dewolf Point State Park
Dewolf point state park has a cabin colony, camping area, stone gazebo and dockage for boats on the lake of the isles in the st. lawrence river. fishermen and nature lovers appreciate this small park's rustic beauty. -
East River State Park
East river state park is a seven-acre waterfront park located along the east river in the williamsburg neighborhood of brooklyn. it offers visitors a stunning view of the manhattan skyline, a delightful play area, and the green space provides many opportunities for recreation and relaxation. as the site of a 19th century shipping dock, visitors to east river may also discover unique historical remnants like old cobblestone streets and railroad tracks embedded in concrete. historic interpretive signs are provided for your convenience. the park preserves and protects the many natural and historical resources along this beautiful city waterfront. the park is free and open to the public. -
Eel Weir State Park
Eel weir state park is located on the oswegatchie river two miles from black lake. both waterways are known for excellent bass fishing and are ideal for canoes or rowboats. as it is small and secluded, the park is a perfect place to get away from it all. thirty-eight campsites are available, as are a picnic area and pavilion. -

Evangola State Park
Evangola state park's major attraction is its beautiful arc-shaped shoreline and natural sand beach on lake erie. low cliffs of angola shale line the edge of the beach. in addition to swimming, the park has picnic facilities, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts and 80 campsites. -
Fahnestock State Park (Clarence Fahnestock)
Clarence fahnestock memorial state park is a delight for outdoor enthusiasts. this 14,086 acre park, covering land in putnam and dutchess counties, boasts hiking trails, a beautiful beach, picnic areas, scenic campground, and abundant opportunities for boating, hunting, fishing, and birding. the park is also home to the taconic outdoor education center which provides high quality environmental programming and fahnestock winter park which includes 15 kilometers of groomed trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. -
Fahnestock Winter Park
Situated in the heart of the hudson valley, the park is nestled in the 16,000 acre clarence fahnestock memorial state park. fwp offers 15 km of machine groomed, tracked and mapped trails for beginning and expierenced skiers and snowshoers. families find the park particularly enjoyable because it offers easy terrain to ski on near the lodge. the sledding hill and hot chocolate to sip in front of the outdoor fireplace are nice compliments to day-long trips. -
Fair Haven Beach State Park
Fair haven beach state park is located in upstate new york on the eastern portion of the lake ontario shoreline. it has one of the finest public lakefronts in upstate new york, with towering shoreline bluffs, sandy beaches and adjoining hilly woodlands. the park features 1500 feet of beautiful sand beach including 600 feet of guarded swim area. inland, sterling pond and creek are centrally located amongst the geological transition between woods and water. -
Fillmore Glen State Park
Fillmore glen state park is an oasis of cool, dense woods crowding into a long, narrow gorge. its hiking trails offer spectacular views, unique geological formations, including five waterfalls, and a botanically rich glen. the park has 60 campsites, a stream-fed swimming pool and fishing in the owasco lake inlet. in the winter, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are permitted on unplowed roads. -
Fort Niagara State Park
Fort niagara state park has two boat launches providing access to the lower niagara river and lake ontario, woodland hiking trails, swimming pools, waterslide, a view of lake ontario, picnic grounds, playgrounds, water fowl hunting, 18 soccer fields. in winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowshoe, and sled. the park is adjacent to old fort niagara state historic site. -
Four Mile Creek State Park
Four mile creek state park is located just 15 minutes north of the mighty niagara falls. the 275 campsites average 50' x 50' in size and feature both shady and sunny settings. available services range from 10 50 amp sites and 121 30 amp sites to 144 non-electric sites accommodating the biggest rig to the most primitive tent site. 21 prime sites, electric or non-electric, are located near the shores of lake ontario and offer spectacular panoramic views. the park has hiking trails for campers along the densely wooded bluffs. the marsh at the mouth of four mile creek is home to fauna such as great blue herons, white tail deer and to flora such as stunning white trillium and greenbrier. a camp store is located at four mile creek. laundry facilities are located at comfort stations in the 100 and 200 areas. a modern playground is centrally located in the park. -
Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park
A scenic haven approximately 40 miles from new york city, franklin d. roosevelt state park offers day trippers a day of fun and relaxation. the park's spacious picnic areas, which can accommodate individual families as well as large groups, may be reserved in advance. the park's mammoth pool can hold 3,500 bathers at one time! in addition the park offers a host of other activities for people of all ages to enjoy. -
Gantry Plaza State Park
Gantry plaza state park is a 12-acre riverside oasis that boasts spectacular views of the midtown manhattan skyline, including the empire state building and the united nations. enjoy a relaxing stroll along the park's four piers or through the park's manicured gardens and unique mist fountain. along the way take a moment to admire the rugged beauty of the park's centerpieces - restored gantries. these industrial monuments were once used to load and unload rail car floats and barges; today they are striking reminders of our waterfront's past. with the city skyline as a backdrop and the gantries as a stage, the park's plaza is a wonderful place to enjoy a spring or summer concert. recreational facilities include basketball courts, playgrounds, handball courts, and a fishing pier with its own cleaning table. -

Gilbert lake state park's lake and three ponds lie in wooded, hilly terrain in the foothills of the catskills. in addition to cabins and campsites, the park has more than 12 miles of interconnecting trails for hikers, skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoers. playgrounds and a disc golf course, as well as swimming, boat rentals, boating (car top/hard bottom boats with permit only) and fishing are also featured. -
Gilgo State Park
Gilgo state park is located on a barrier beach on the south shore of long island, with atlantic ocean and great south bay frontage. access to the park is via 4 wheel drive only and requires a permit. the park is a carry in/ carry out facility. spectacular views and tranquility make this a popular destination. the park is undeveloped.anglers enjoy surf fishing in the atlantic ocean. fishing is abundant in the fall during the stripe bass migration. anglers may also catch blue fish and a variety of salt-water species.the park is also actively managed for the protection of the piping plover and sea beach amaranth. stewards monitor the natural resources and provide education to visitors regarding habitat management. -

Golden Hill State Park
Golden hill state park was acquired by new york state in 1962. the thirty mile lighthouse, decommissioned by the u.s. coast guard in 1958, is part of the park and is available for rental year-round. this landmark has a rich history which can be enjoyed by visitors of the park, through the friends of thirty mile point lighthouse. the lighthouse originally provided keepers and assistant keepers family quarters. golden hill state park offers camping, fishing, boating, shoreline hiking, picnicking, nature walks and walking tours of the lighthouse site. summer events at the park are numerous. winter activities are also available, including snowshoeing and five miles of snowmobile trails that run through the park. -
Goosepond Mountain State Park
Goosepond mountain state park, located in orange county, is managed as 1,558 acres of open space. almost completely wooded, the park is open to hikers and horseback riders. -
Grafton Lakes State Park
Grafton lakes state park, on the forested mountain ridge between the taconic and hudson valleys, includes five ponds and 2,357 acres. long pond has a large, sandy beach, which is a popular summer attraction. anglers can go after rainbow and brown trout in long, second and shaver pond. pickerel, perch, and bass are abundant in all ponds including mill pond and walleye are found at the martin-durham reservoir. all ponds have launch facilities for canoes, sailboats and rowboats, electric boat are allowed. visitors also picnic, walk the nature trails, and hike, bike or ride horses along the 25 miles of park trails. -
Grass Point State Park
Grass point state park is on a point of land that projects into the american channel of the st. lawrence river, known for some of the best fishing in the country. the park is a popular spot for campers and day-users, who come to boat, swim, fish, picnic, or just to relax. there is a marina and boat launch, an area is available for games, and the sandy beach and shallow water are excellent for children.located on the west side of the beach is the grass point cottage, a full service accommodation. the two-story cottage has a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, cooking and eating utensils. bedding, pillows and linen are also provided. the screened-in porch has some outstanding views of the river and sunsets. -
Green Lakes State Park
Green lakes state park's outstanding features are its two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forest. both round and green lakes are meromictic lakes, which means that there is no fall and spring mixing of surface and bottom waters. such lakes have a high potential for evidence of ancient plant and animal life. another special feature of the park is the 18-hole green lakes state park golf course designed by robert trent jones, where visitors can snowshoe in winter, and there are 10 miles of trails that cross-country skiers can use. -
Hallock State Park Preserve
Jamesport state park has a total of 525 pristine acres. 225-acres are state park and 300-acres are used by local farmers, to ensure preservation of the land and to prevent future development. jamesport state park is a shorefront park that offers nearly 1-mile of pristine beach front on the north shore of long island along the long island sound. -
Hamlin Beach State Park
Hamlin beach state park's clear water, sandy beaches and 264 tent and trailer campsites bring thousands of visitors to the park each year. the yanty creek marsh area at the east end of the park has a mile long self-guided nature trail. in addition, there are 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as snowmobile and cross-country skiing trails. visitors can launch car-top boats, fish for salmon and trout and enjoy the picnic facilities. -

Heckscher State Park
Heckscher state park has more than a million visitors a year. twenty miles of trails attract hikers, bicycle and cross-country skiers. swimmers can use the great south bay. there are picnic areas, a boat launch ramp, playing fields, and a playground. -
Hempstead Lake State Park
Hempstead lake state park is a multi use facility. included are 20 tennis courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, bridle trails for horse back riding, biking and hiking trails, shaded picnic areas and a historic hand carved wooden carousel. there is a picnic pavilion available for large parties. in addition to a pavilion rented through the permit department, hempstead offers rental of the carousel party-room done in-house at the park. for a rental fee of $350.00 for a three hour event, guests are also offered unlimited carousel rides during their event. -
High Tor State Park
High tor state park, a day-use facility for picnicking, swimming and hiking, affords spectacular views of the hudson river. the long path passes through the park just before the trail heads inland to the catskills. -

Higley Flow State Park
Higley flow state park is nestled among the adirondack foothills on the picturesque raquette river. spacious campsites, separated from neighbors by pine trees, abound in the park. the terrain is hilly and heavily-wooded and there is a sandy beach on the reservoir of the raquette river. the scenic river is ideal for canoeing and fishing. the beaver pond nature trail has interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the trail passes. hiking trails double as cross-country ski trails in winter, when snowmobiling, snowshoeing and ice fishing are also allowed. -
Hither Hills State Park
Hither hills state park offers visitors scenic picnic areas and fireplaces, sport fishing, a sandy ocean beach, playing fields, a playground and a 168-site campground on the ocean. anglers can fish year-round and obtain permits to fish at night. the unique "walking dunes" of napeague harbor are located on the eastern boundary of the park, which also has woodlands filled with russian olive, oak, shad and pine trees. bridle paths and hiking, nature, biking and cross-country ski trails are available. -

Hudson Highlands State Park
A mostly undeveloped preserve of nearly 6,000 acres, hudson highlands state park consists of a series of separate parcels of land stretching from annsville creek in peekskill, north to dennings point in beacon. the spacious park is perfect for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and birding. the hudson highlands and hudson river provide spectacular backdrops for the many activities that can be enjoyed here. the park's extensive hiking trail network includes terrain that varies from easy to challenging. trail maps can be obtained at the clarence fahnestock memorial state park office. the park's most well known trail breakneck ridge was rated by newsweek as one of the top 10 day hikes in america. the 5.5 mile breakneck ridge trail rises 1,250 feet in only a ¾ mile stretch. please note that camping and use of fire are prohibited throughout the park. -
Hudson River Islands State Park
Hudson river islands state park facilities are concentrated on the islands of gay's point and stockport middle ground. these islands are fragile communities with many rare and endangered plant and animal species. day-use facilities include picnic areas with grills and nature trail. fishing is popular and transient camping is allowed. -
Irondequoit Bay State Marine Park

Jacques Cartier State Park
Jacques cartier state park has a sheltered bay protecting the sandy swimming beach and campers dock. the two biggest draws for the park are unlimited boating opportunities and excellent fishing. the park's large open lawns encourage games and picnics; a playground and another picnic ground, this one forested, are nearby. in winter, cross-country skiing is permitted in the park. -
James Baird State Park
James baird state park is situated on farmland once owned by james baird, a contractor and engineer whose firm constructed the lincoln memorial. in 1939 james baird donated the 590 acres of land to new york state under the stipulation that it be known as james baird state park. work began on the park and golf course in 1940. construction continued intermittently during world war ii and the james baird state park golf course was officially opened in 1948. nationally renowned golf architect, robert trent jones designed a scenic, fairly flat 18-hole golf course on this large tract of farmland in pleasant valley. to golfers' delight, the par 5, 13th hole is one of the most challenging in the hudson valley. in addition to the golf course, the park now also boasts a driving range, pro shop, clubhouse and a snack bar at the 1st and 10th holes. a full service restaurant, mahoney's on the green, overlooks the golf course and is open to both golfers and the general public. the restaurant is consistently rated in the top 10 within dutchess county! -
Jones Beach State Park
Jones beach state park is a world-class swimming destination. the park offers surf bathing along its 6.5 miles of ocean beach, one-half mile of bay beach for stillwater bathing, and two swimming pools.the west end of the park provides wonderful surf fishing, a boat basin and undeveloped areas that are home to a variety of migratory birds and native plants. the park is also home to the theodore roosevelt nature center, which includes environmental displays about the seashore, educational tours and programming for all ages. -
Joseph Davis State Park
Joseph davis state park has facilities for a wide variety of recreational activities. the terrain is generally flat, with fields, woodlands and ponds. anglers can fish for largemouth bass in the pond near the park entrance or for a variety of freshwater fish from the fishing dock on the lower niagara river. the park also has a nature trail, as well as cross-country skiing/snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails and an 27-hole frisbee disc golf course. -
Keewaydin State Park
Keewaydin state park is on the st. lawrence river, offering excellent boating, fishing and, during the winter, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. the sheltered marina provides dock space for seasonal and transient visitors. overlooking the river are 48 campsites. the park's terrain includes steep, rocky outcroppings between the campsites and the shoreline, providing vantage points for watching the ocean-going vessels traversing the river. the park also has a swimming pool and picnic areas. -
Keuka Lake State Park
Keuka lake state park, located in the heart of wine country, has a gentle charm, offering views of vineyard-covered slopes, glimmering water and clear blue sky. the park's camping areas have 150 tent and trailer sites. a swimming beach, picnic shelter, boat launch ramp, docking space and hiking trails open several recreational avenues to visitors. -
Knox Farm State Park
Knox farm state park is the former country estate of buffalo's renowned knox family. it is located adjacent to the historic village of east aurora, birthplace of the roycroft arts & crafts movement and former home of millard fillmore. the park's 633 acres are comprised of a variety of habitats, including 400 acres of grasslands (pastures and hayfields), and 100 acres of woodlands, ponds and several wetland areas. -
Kring Point State Park
Kring point state park is a narrow peninsula whose south shore faces goose bay and north shore faces the st. lawrence river. standing anywhere in the park, visitors see water and many of the 1700 islands for which the region is named. half of the 100 campsites are on the waterfront and virtually every cabin and campsite has a river or bay view. the park has docks on the river and the bay and a sandy beach on the st. lawrence. fishing, boating, swimming and picnicking are major activities. during the winter, visitors cross-country ski. -

Lake taghkanic state park, nestled next to lake taghkanic in the rolling hills and lush forests of columbia county, offers a wonderful variety of recreational activities. the park has tent and trailer campsites and cabin and cottage camping facilities. large trucks, rvs and campers can enter from the route 82 entrance. it also features two beaches, picnic areas, boat launch sites, rowboat, paddleboat and kayak rentals, playgrounds, sports playing fields, a rentable pavilion, and newly renovated recreation hall and showers. in addition, the park has hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, hunting, cross-country ski and snowmobile trails. ice skating and ice fishing are permitted when conditions are appropriate. please call the park office at (518) 851-3631 to check ice thickness. -
Lake Tiorati Beach - Harriman State Park
Lake tiorati was formed by clearing swampland in harriman state park and constructing a concrete dam to make two ponds into one large lake. surrounded by meadows and rolling, wooded hills, the park offers excellent swimming, fishing, boating and picnicking. in winter, if conditions allow, the lake is used for ice fishing. the pioneer campsites near the lake may be used by bonafide groups. -
Lake Welch Beach - Harriman State Park
Lake welch beach state park's man-made lake welch, with its half-mile-long sandy beach in the wooded hills of the ramapo mountains, is the largest beach in harriman state park. originally a small body of water with farmland around the edges, lake welch became the large lake that it is today when a dam was completed in 1942. the park offers cool breezes, swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking and camping in adjacent beaver pond campground. winter activities include ice fishing and snowmobiling. -
Lakeside Beach State Park

Long Point State Park - Thousand Islands
Long point state park is in a remote area, offering a peaceful, relaxing camping experience. situated on a peninsula facing chaumont bay on lake ontario, the park is small and almost completely surrounded by water with great views from anywhere in the park. campsites are fairly open and grass-covered with scattered trees, a playground and picnic areas. the bay provides a protected harbor for boats, and lake ontario offers excellent boating and fishing opportunities. constant lake breezes keep the park cool and mosquito-free. -
Long Point State Park on Lake Chautauqua
Long point, which juts peninsula-like into lake chautauqua, is one of the moraines left long ago by a retreating glacier. the park and marina comprise a day-use area with thickly-wooded areas of beech, maple, spruce, poplar and oak. the park's boat launch is the most modern on lake chautauqua, which, at 1,308 feet above sea level, is one of the highest navigable bodies of water in north america. the lake has a plentiful supply of bass, perch, pike and other types of fish, but fishermen come to chautauqua to fish for muskellunge. muskellunge, or muskie, are native to the lake, noted for their size--often more than 30 inches long (in fact they must be at least 40" to keep) -- and their "fight." in winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowmobile or fish. -
Macomb Reservation State Park
Macomb reservation state park lies just outside the adirondack park along the salmon river's course toward lake champlain. surrounded by state land, the park has a wilderness atmosphere. visitors can use non-motorized boats and fish in davis pond or the salmon river. the park has playing fields, a picnic area, a self-guided nature trail, a hiking trail, electric and non-electric wooded campsites. winter activities include ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. -
Mark Twain State Park and Soaring Eagles Golf Course
Named for the great 19th-century author who spent summers in the area, mark twain state park is the home of one of the most scenic and challenging 18-hole courses in the area. Soaring Eagles Golf Course Has a unique 18-hole design with only two parallel holes. the excellent conditions for this course were created thousands of years ago by a retreating glacier which laid down hundreds of feet of sand, gravel and silt. buried ice blocks slowly melted, leaving water-filled depressions or "kettle ponds" on the course. -
Mary Island State Park
As a result of structural damage to the park's water and electrical systems, camping is unavailable at mary island state park for the 2011 season. we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. we suggest Canoe-Picnic Point State Park or Cedar Island State Park, both accessible only by boat, as alternative camping locations. the park will be open for day-use, but due to recent storms the opening date has yet to be determined. please check back for further updates. -
Max V. Shaul State Park
Max v. shaul state park is a small, quiet camping area with 30 wooded tent and trailer sites. the park has shady picnic grounds, as well as playing fields and a playground. there is a nature and hiking trail, fishing is allowed in panther creek and winter visitors can cross-country ski. -
Mexico Point Boat Launch
Located nearby selkirk shores state park, mexico point offers a large concrete boat launch into the salmon river with access to lake ontario. the site offers restrooms and ice. there are no fires or picnicking allowed. -
Midway State Park
Located on the shores of beautiful chautauqua lake, midway state park is a family treasure. originally established in 1898 as a trolley park, midway state park is one of the oldest continually operating amusement parks in the nation. the first owners of the park constructed playing fields, tennis courts, bath houses and a dance hall to entice customers to ride the trolley on weekends. in 1915, a new building was constructed with a kitchen, a large dining room and space for dancing and roller skating. today, this building is home to a museum, gift shop, concession stands and other facilities. -

Located in the scenic schoharie valley, mine kill state park overlooks the ny power authority's blenheim-gilboa pumped storage power project. providing excellent fishing opportunities, the lower reservoir is stocked with an assortment of trout, bass, walleye, carp and pan fish and is ideal for motor boating, kayaking and water skiing. the park contains a modern aquatics facility featuring an olympic sized swimming pool with separate wading and diving pools. swim lessons are taught in the summer months--please contact the park office for details. other warm weather activities include hiking and mountain biking on the parks 8 miles of trails. the park also hosts sessions of the headwaters soccer camp in its regulation sized athletic fields. league play is also welcome. -

Newtown Battlefield State Park
In august of 1779, the peace and tranquility of this forested hill was broken by the boom of cannons, the crack of musket fire, and the yells of iroquois warriors. the continental army was engaged in battle with the british regulars, loyalist rangers and 1000 iroquois indian warriors. the battle of newtown was the decisive clash in one of the largest offensive campaigns of the american revolution. this expedition, known as the sullivan-clinton campaign, had been regarded as punishment to several tribes among the six nations of the iroquois confederacy who had sided with the british in the war and had attacked frontier settlements. -

Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park
During the 1830s new york city was in dire need of a fresh water supply to combat the steady rise of disease and to fight numerous fires that often engulfed large tracts of businesses and homes. after numerous proposals and an abandoned plan two years into its production, construction of an unprecedented magnitude began in 1837 under the expertise of john bloomfield jervis. the proposed plan called for a 41 mile aqueduct and dam to be built in order to run water from the croton river to new york city. three to four thousand workers, mostly irish immigrants earning up to $1.00 per day, completed the masonry marvel in just five years. in 1842 water flowed into above ground reservoirs located at the present sites of the new york public library and the great lawn of central park. throngs of people attended the formal celebration held on october 14th and celebrated with "croton cocktails" - a mix of croton water and lemonade. -
Old Erie Canal State Historic Park
Old erie canal state park is a 36-mile stretch of the 363-mile old erie canal, which has been designated a national recreational trail by the national parks service. the terrain is woodland and wetland that present opportunities for hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, bicycling, canoeing, fishing, and snowmobiling. several areas have footbridges that aid access to the canal towpath where visitors can view the remnants of stone aqueducts. -

Nearby selkirk shores state park, this boat launch features a shallow water launch into the salmon river, approximately 1/2 mile to lake ontario. the boat launch is minutes from local hotels and campgrounds and features fishing, restrooms, drinking fountain and jug filler. fires, picnicking and swimming are not allowed. -
Pinnacle State Park and Golf Course
Pinnacle state park has breathtaking views and tremendous vistas, including the canisteo river valley, harris hill and the village of addison. the park is known for its challenging 9-hole golf course, but visitors can enjoy many other recreational activities, including hiking or cross-country skiing on 11 miles of trails. anglers can fish for bass, bluegill or bullheads in levi pond. hunters can go after deer, turkey or small game in season and picnickers can relax and enjoy the scenery. -
Pixley Falls State Park
Pixley falls state park's main attraction is the 50-foot waterfall, close to the picnic area. this picturesque park also features steep, wooded hills and a mountain stream. a nature trail meanders through the forest and past pixley falls. the park has access to numerous miles of trout streams. -
Point Au Roche State Park
Point au roche state park, on the northwestern shore of lake champlain, is a mixture of open and forested areas, most of them natural and undeveloped. the park's large day-use area has a protected, sandy beach, picnic facilities and concession stand. boating and fishing are popular activities, as are volleyball, softball and other games. the park offers 60 designated mooring sites in deep bay. the staffed nature center offers a variety of programs open to the public all year. the park's trails, including nature, hiking and biking trails, wind through interesting habitats, from forest to marsh to shoreline. the trails are in use all year for school programs, nature hikes and cross-country skiing. the park also provides access for ice fishing. -
Reservoir State Park
Reservoir state park, town of niagara route 31, is a favorite of locals in niagara county. the park has three tennis courts, eight baseball diamonds, two basketball courts, a roller hockey court and picnic facilities. it is also home to the largest softball complex in niagara county. other users include soccer players, runners, kite fliers, model airplane clubs and golfers. winter visitors come to sled and cross-country ski. part of the park is an overlook for the robert moses power plant reservoir. excellent fishing available in the reservoir. -

Robert G. Wehle State Park
Robert g. wehle state park is the region's newest park. the former estate of mr. wehle, the park boasts 1,100 acres and over 17,000 ft of spectacular lake ontario shoreline. among the facilities immediately available to the public is the residential compound featuring the main house, guest quarters, the "studio" and formal gardens. extremely private, the area can accommodate up to 8 people. rental arrangements can be made through the wescott beach state park office. also available are over 10 miles of hiking/mountain biking trails, tennis court, picnicking and cross-country skiing. hunting is allowed in designated areas during the season. -
Robert H. Treman State Park
Robert h. treman state park is an area of wild beauty, with the rugged gorge called enfield glen as its scenic highlight. winding trails follow the gorge past 12 waterfalls, including the 115-foot lucifer falls, to where visitors can see a mile-and-a-half down the wooded gorge as it winds its way to the lower park. campers can choose from tent or rv sites or cabins. enjoy nine miles of hiking trails, or swim in a stream-fed pool beneath a waterfall. swimming is allowed in lifeguarded area only. -

Roberto Clemente State Park
Roberto clemente state park is a 25-acre waterfront park located along the harlem river in the bronx. the park offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities year-round for youth, adults, senior citizens and the physically challenged. the facilities include a multi-purpose recreation building, an olympic-size pool complex, ball fields, basketball courts, picinic areas, playgrounds and a waterfront promenade. -
Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Visitors will delight in the ever growing haven of open space in westchester county known as rockefeller state park preserve. approximately 30 miles from the hustle and bustle of new york city, the preserve is an idyllic spot for strolling, jogging, horseback riding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. with 180 recorded species of birds and its iba (important bird area) designation by the national audubon society, the preserve is a must visit area for birders. in season, licensed anglers enjoy fishing for bass in the 22 acre swan lake and for brown trout in the pocantico river. -
Rockland Lake State Park
Rockland lake state park's lake is located on a ridge of hook mountain above the west bank of the hudson river. the park offers a huge 24,140 square foot swimming pool with diving boards--the pool is more than 10,000 square feet larger than an olympic size pool! a kiddie pool is also available for young children. the park also offers picnic tables; grills, a car top boat launch dock, hiking trails with breath-taking views of the hudson valley, six tennis courts and the rockland lake state park golf courses, featuring two 18 hole golf courses. anglers can fish rockland lake for bass, perch and norlunge. walkers, joggers, roller bladers, and bicyclists can enjoy the 3.2 mile non-motorized use paved trail around the lake. -
Sampson State Park
Encompassing just over 2000 acres on the eastern shore of seneca lake, sampson state park features camping and boating as the primary recreational activities. the park has a total of 309 campsites with 245 electric and 64 non-electric sites. the marina has just over 100 boat slips and a large multiple ramp launch site. a key feature of the park is the beautiful view of the lake at its center. facilities include courts for tennis, horseshoes, basketball and volleyball, a swimming beach with nearby playground, a low impact fitness circuit and a scenic lake trail. other popular activities include fishing, bicycling, jogging, geocaching, and nature watching. picnic shelters are available and may be reserved for events. -
Sandy Island Beach State Park
Sandy island beach state park is part of the eastern lake ontario dune and wetland system, a 17 mile stretch which extends from the town of richland, oswego county, north along lake ontario to jefferson county. the dunes were formed by wind and wave motion of a giant inland sea that preceded lake ontario. the area is only significant freshwater dune site in the northeastern united states.the eastern lake ontario dune system offers many opportunities for hikers, birdwatchers, canoeists and kayakers. walkovers and viewing platforms have been built to protect the fragile dune environment. -

Saratoga Spa State Park
Saratoga spa state park, distinguished by its classical architecture and listed as a national historic landmark, is noted for its diverse cultural, aesthetic and recreational resources. in addition to the nationally-known saratoga performing arts center, the spa little theater, the national museum of dance, the saratoga automobile museum, the gideon putnam resort and roosevelt baths and spa, the park offers a multitude of traditional recreation opportunities. -
Schodack Island State Park
Schodack island state park sits off the eastern shore of the hudson river just south of albany. approximately seven miles of hudson river and schodack creek shoreline bound the 1,052-acre site. a day-use facility, the park has been designated a state estuary, and a portion of the park shelters a bird conservation area (bca) that is home to bald eagles, cerulean warblers and blue herons that nest in the cottonwood trees. eight miles of multi-use trails wind through a variety of ecological communities. in addition, the park has an improved bike trail, volleyball nets, horseshoe and a kayak/canoe launch site. interpretive signage highlights the park's historic and environmental significance. picnicking (tables and grills), groups by reservation (fee) -

Selkirk Shores State Park
Swimming is not allowed at selkirk shores state park. the former swimming beach will require a comprehensive waterfront evaluation, design, and reconstruction project before this activity could return to the park. there are currently no plans or funding in place for this project. -
Seneca Lake State Park
Seneca lake state park overlooks blue water, creating a relaxing experience for swimmers and picnickers. children will be especially delighted with our sprayground and playground facilities. the sprayground is the first of its kind built in the new york state parks system with over 100 water jets that spontaneously spray water. neighboring the sprayground is the playground with equipment for children ages 4-12. this park also offers 2 excellent marinas, with a total of 132 electric slips and 84 non-electric slips. transient slips available at both marinas. -
Shadmoor State Park
Ninety-nine acre shadmoor state park, located one quarter-mile east of montauk village, features more than 2,400 feet of ocean beach accessed by two stairways. the park, named for its open, rolling geography and the shadbush that grows there, also has bluffs, freshwater wetlands that are part of the preserve, hiking trails and elevated platforms for birdwatching and enjoying the shoreline views. visitors may picnic and saltwater fish. -
Silver Lake State Park
Silver lake state park provides a boat launch facility for boating and fishing on the lake. the area also has picnic facilities and a comfort station which is open year round. the upland section of the park is available for hunting in season by permit. -

Southwick Beach State Park
Southwick beach state park is spacious and popular, known for outstanding swimming and sunning on its long sandy beach. campers and day-users enjoy picnicking, hiking and games on the playing fields. the park is adjacent to the lakeview wildlife management area, home to the environmentally-sensitive coastal sand dunes. park nature, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails adjoin the wildlife management area and its trail system, which visitors are encouraged to use. during the winter, snowmobilers are permitted in the park. deer hunting is allowed south of the park entrance in season. -
St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course
Originally owned by five area golfers as a private 9-hole club more than 75 years ago, st. lawrence state park golf course was purchased by the state in the mid 1960s. with its long, sweeping hills and pond, the course was designed to incorporate the panoramic view of the st. lawrence river shipping channel and the canadian shore. the vista can be seen from the fairways and from the clubhouse veranda. this 9-hole course can be played twice from different tees for an 18-hole round. -

While visiting the new york state fair this summer be sure to stop at the state park at the fair and sample some of our programs in an oasis-like park setting around the reflecting pool in front of the horticulture building. while the state park at the fair is the smallest park within the new york state office of parks, recreation and historic preservation agency, it offers fun for all ages. it highlights the many interpretive and recreational opportunities available throughout the 178 state parks and 36 state historic sites in new york. come share hands-on activities and explore interesting demonstrations and exhibits. our mini-golf course is an annual family favorite. -

Sterling forest state park comprises 21,935.08 acres of nearly pristine natural refuge amidst of one of the nation's most densely populated areas, a remarkable piece of woodland, a watershed for millions, and a tremendous outdoor recreation area. this unbroken deep-forest habitat is important for the survival of many resident and migratory species, including black bear, a variety of hawks and songbirds and many rare invertebrates and plants. hunting, fishing and hiking opportunities are available. -

Stony brook state park swimming area is closed. campers may use the north swimming pool at letchworth state park. campers may enter the park for free with their camping permit, but the pool fee is $2 for adults and $1 for children. the pool is located 20 miles from stony brook. we apologize for the inconvenience. -

Sunken Meadow State Park (Governor Alfred E. Smith)
Sunken meadow state park, located on long island sound, has a wide range of topography that sustains a variety of flora and fauna. the three miles of beach meets tall, glacier-formed bluffs at the west end of the shoreline. a man-made dam separates the park's brackish creek and marshes from the tidal flats. south of the flats are acres of undeveloped and heavily-wooded rolling hills. -

Tallman Mountain State Park
Tallman mountain state park comprises wooded country on the easterly slope of the palisades uplands overlooking the hudson and piermont marsh, which lies between the river and the slope. the marsh is part of the hudson river national estuarine research reserve. the park operates as a day-use area, offering a swimming pool, running track, tennis courts, playfield, cross country skiing, a walking trail, hiking and picnic areas. -
Taughannock Falls State Park
Taughannock falls state park's namesake waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the northeast. taughannock falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail. campsites and cabins overlook cayuga lake, with marina, boat launch and beach nearby. a multi-use trail--hiking, cross-country skiing--winds past sledding slopes and natural skating ponds. boat launch site not suitable for any type of sailboat. the park also offers organized activities including tours through the taughannock gorge and summer concerts along the lakefront. -
Thacher State Park (John Boyd Thacher)
John boyd thacher state park, is situated along the helderberg escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the hudson-mohawk valleys and the adirondack and green mountains. the park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous indian ladder trail. there are over twelve additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling. -
Thompson's Lake State Park
Thompson's lake state park, nestled in the mountains just four miles from the helderberg escarpment, is a popular camping ground and recreation area. in addition to 140 wooded campsites, the park comprises a sandy beach, mixed hardwood and conifer forests, limestone outcroppings and open fields. recreational opportunities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a playing field, swingsets, carry-in boat access, rental row boats, fishing areas, and nature trails. interpretive and recreational programs are offered for campers throughout the summer. during the winter, visitors can cross-country ski and ice fish. -

Trail view is a 400-acre, 7.4-mile linear park that serves as a link along the nassau/suffolk greenbelt trail that extends from cold spring harbor state park on the north shore of suffolk county to bethpage state park, and eventually to the south shore of nassau county. -

Valley Stream State Park
Valley stream state park is a day-use picnic facility next to a highly-developed residential area. the park offers picnic areas with tables, fireplaces and grills; children's play areas; horseshoe, volleyball, basketball, bocce ball courts; ball fields; nature trails, and cross-country ski trails. the squirrel nut and hickory nut nature trails give children the opportunity to explore the various habitats within the park. the park has a walking course, a half-mile loop with 15 stations, at which walkers can complete a variety of stretching and strengthening exercises. it is a unique outdoor exercise adventure with a focus on cardiovascular fitness, vitality and longevity for all ages. -
Verona Beach State Park
Verona beach state park, located on the eastern shore of oneida lake, is a picnicker's and camper's delight. shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with an excellent view of the water. the lake, black creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps give verona beach one of the most diverse aquatic habitats in the central region, and well worth a hike on the "woods and wetland" nature trail. the winter season hosts snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and ice fishermen. the eastern portion of the park is open for hunting deer, small game, and waterfowl, in season. -

Waterson Point State Park
Waterson point state park is small and picturesque, ideal for the fisherman and boating enthusiast who wishes to escape the hustle and bustle of the larger parks. the two docks provide overnight and day dockage for 30 boats as well as a comfort station (toilets only). the park also has picnic facilities, including a century old gazebo and access to shoreline fishing. -
Watkins Glen State Park
Watkins glen state park is the most famous of the finger lakes state parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. the gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of cavern cascade. rim trails overlook the gorge. campers and day-visitors can enjoy the olympic-size pool, scheduled summer tours through the gorge, tent and trailer campsites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby seneca lake or catherine creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout. -
Wellesley Island State Park
Wellesley island state park has the largest camping complex in the thousand islands region. secluded wilderness sites nestled along the banks of the st. lawrence river are accessible only by foot or boat. within this rustic paradise, fishing is excellent--particularly for muskie in autumn. to accommodate boaters, the park has a full service marina and four boat launches. a sandy beach on the river offers great swimming and sunbathing and there is a recreation barn and the 9-hole Wellesley Island State Park Golf Course on the island. -
Westcott Beach State Park
Westcott beach state park is a popular day-use and camping park on lake ontario, with rolling, wooded hills and open, grassy meadows sheltered by henderson bay. it offers restful campsites located on a bluff, from which the view is spectacular. a small marina is adjacent to the long, sandy beach to accommodate anglers interested in lake ontario's excellent black bass fishing. the park also has a children's playground, picnic areas and hiking trails that do winter duty for cross-country skiing. -
Whetstone Gulf State Park
Whetstone gulf state park is built in and around a three-mile-long gorge cut into the eastern edge of the tug hill plateau. the gorge is one of the most spectacular scenic vistas east of the rocky mountains. the park has 56 wooded campsites- some of which are electric, a scenic picnic area along whetstone creek, a man-made swimming area and trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, one of which circles the gorge. above the gorge is whetstone reservoir, stocked with tiger muskie and large-mouth bass for fishermen, and popular for canoeing. -
Whirlpool State Park
Whirlpool state park has two levels--the upper, or street level has many overlooks with spectacular views of the swirling waters of the rapids, the whirlpool and the niagara river escarpment. visitors picnic and children use the playground at this level. the lower, or river level is accessible by walking the 300 feet of trails and steps that descend into the gorge. this level has several nature trails and access for fishing. -
Wildwood State Park
Wildwood state park comprises 600 acres of undeveloped hardwood forest terminating on the high bluff overlooking long island sound. trailer and tent sites are available for campers. swimmers can take advantage of the cool waters of the sound, and picnickers can relax at shaded picnic tables as their children enjoy the nearby playground. visitors can fish and use the hiking and cross-country ski trails. -
Wilson-Tuscarora State Park
Wilson-tuscarora state park is a well-preserved natural area for many varieties of plants and wildlife, encompassing 476.5 acres of mature woods, open meadows and marshland. tuscarora bay, divided from lake ontario by a strip of land called "the island," has a boat launch and emergency storm shelter docks. the park's four-mile nature trail is also used for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. fishing for many varieties of pan fish and game fish, from boats or from shore, is extremely popular. picnickers can enjoy scenic views of the lake while children play in the playground. -
Woodlawn Beach State Park
Woodlawn beach state park is located on the eastern-most terminus of lake erie. within the buffalo metropolitan area, the park offers a beautiful, one-mile long natural sand beach with lovely panoramic views and spectacular sunsets on the lake. woodlawn beach supports a diversity of wildlife habitats including one of the finest freshwater sand dune areas remaining on lake erie. recreational opportunities are plentiful and include picnicking, beach volleyball, nature trails and a playground on the beach.
